DIRECT INSTRUCTION WORKS: EVIDENCE AND EXPERIENCE OF DIRECT AND EXPLICIT TEACHING
Direct and explicit instruction methods are increasingly common practices in Australian schools. But despite decades of research demonstrating their effectiveness, they remain widely misunderstood.
Direct and explicit instruction methods are dynamic and engaging. They reflect the scientific evidence on how children learn – not just children from disadvantaged backgrounds, but all children. The Direct Instruction reading programs in particular offer a solution to the high numbers of children struggling to reach proficiency in literacy and numeracy.
These forums will show why and how direct and explicit instruction methods are being adopted with success in schools around Australia.
