The State of Education in NSW

At CIS, we have long seen education reform as key to our mission. We need a high-quality education system to achieve economic prosperity for the next generation, to promote social mobility, and to foster social cohesion.

Ensuring all students have access to high-quality teachers is essential to raising school outcomes. However, sustaining a high quantity and quality in our teacher workforce remains among our most significant education policy challenges.

NSW is leading the nation and creating innovative approaches when it comes to securing the supply of great teachers. It is not just about pay and conditions, but also about attracting, preparing, and supporting more diverse teachers to the chalkface.

So, how can we address teacher shortages? Can we realistically expect to increase both the number and the quality of our teachers? How can trainee teachers be better prepared?
