Donald Winch - The Centre for Independent Studies

Professor Donald Winch, FRHistS, FBA was a British economist and academic. He was Professor of the History of Economics at the University of Sussex and its Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Arts and Social Studies). He studied economics at the London School of Economics, University of London, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. He received a scholarship to pursue graduate studies at Princeton University, where he received a Ph.D. in economics. After teaching at the University of California and at the University of Edinburgh, Winch joined the University of Sussex, where he was a lecturer in economics, Reader in Economics, and Professor of the History of Economics. Winch was elected a Fellow of the British Academy and was also an elected Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
