Desert Voices | NAIDOC Week 2021

For decades, the Centre for Independent Studies has been committed to the study of indigenous affairs. To help our most marginalised citizens close the gap, especially in remote communities.

We’ve long wanted to change the indigenous victimhood narrative, less interested in symbolism and changing the date of Australia Day and more focused on solving deep seated problems in aboriginal communities.

For indigenous Australians, there’s a lot to talk about. We wanted to hear from voices on the front line. So we sent a film crew to Alice Springs to capture those voices. This is what we heard.

In order of appearance, this documentary features Mark Lockyer, Theresa Napurrurla Price, Dennis Roy Kunoth, Bess Nungarrayi Price, Cecilia Alfonso, Jennifer Hubert, David Price, Linda Hughes, Nicole Laughton & Nicholas Williams.
