Questioning Orthodoxies: Jason Riley

CIS welcomed Jason Riley on the 27th of July as our 2023 John Bonython Annual Gala Lecturer. Our Annual Gala Dinner and Lecture gathers CIS supporters, members and friends and provides the opportunity to further our commitment to the core principles for which we stand.

The John Bonython Lecture series began in 1984 to honour the founding Chairman of the Board of Trustees and has had a tremendous impact on fostering debate and injecting new ideas into the broader public-policy discourse.

Jason Riley is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute and a columnist for the Wall Street Journal, where he has published opinion pieces for more than 20 years. He is the author of several books, including Maverick: A Biography of Thomas Sowell (Basic Books). Riley is widely regarded as one of America’s leading figures in the Black conservatism movement. His perspectives on contemporary issues promise to be insightful and thought provoking. Incidentally, Sowell delivered our John Bonython Lecture in September 1988.
