Prime Minister Boris Johnson went to the polls in 2019 in order to execute Britain’s belated departure from the European Union. However, his bid was blocked by opposition MPs and Tory remainers following a string of heavy parliamentary defeats. Britain was is in uncharted territory.

Simon Heffer has been a high-profile British commentator for three decades, and he will explain what the Westminster crisis means for conservatism, Brexit and the future of Australian-British relations.

Simon Heffer is a columnist for The Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, London, and professor of modern British history at the University of Buckingham. He is author of, among other influential books, High Minds: The Victorians and the Birth of Modern Britain and The Age of Decadence: Britain 1880 to 1914.
