Jim Cox

Jim Cox was Deputy Chair of the Australian Energy Regulator from June 2020 to June 2024 and a board member from 2013 to 2024. Jim has held positions with the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Social Policy Secretariat of the Department of Social Security. He was a principal economist at Economic Planning Advisory Commission between 1986-89 and principal adviser to the Government Pricing Tribunal from 1992 and a member of the Independent Pricing Tribunal of NSW from 1996 to 2013. Between 2004 and 2013, he was also chief executive of the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal. Jim was awarded the Public Service medal in the Australia Day honours list in 2011 for outstanding public service.
